Steampunk Headphones by DemoraFairy Steampunk Headphones by DemoraFairy
Always liked the idea of steampunk headphones, so I made my own. Originally they were going to have a wire going from them to a wrist device I was planning to make, but that never really got done.

I started out with these headphones [link] and painted them gold. I wrapped gold jewellery wire round the straps over the head, glued two adjustable knobs from an old clock onto each side to make it look adjustable, and various cogs and keys for decoration. The rivets around the edge of the headphones are the ends of paper fasteners. The hole where the metal leaves are was originally used to put an iPod Nano in, and the leaves are still removable on the off chance that my iPod decides to work again.

I only realised after looking at the pictures that I'd put the headphones on the wrong way round; the leaves are meant to point backwards. Oh well.

These are really amazing - I think the detail in the centre of the right-hand earphone is particularly cool, and the slot to hold an iPod is pretty ingenious too :D

Thanks. Possibly, I could take them to uni, though they're not as good as my current headphones. Unfortunately they're not in as good a condition now (I actually made them about a year ago), but I could fix them up and bring them.

The cushioning is painted using the same paint as the rest of it, metallic gold paint, can't remember the exact make or description.
